The Heart That Gives

Updated: Dec 21, 2022

Come on in...

My name is Jacqueline. I started The Heart That Gives (THTG) in December 2017 on a whim and a prayer. I wanted to do something to help alleviate the homeless and food insecure people in the New Orleans area. I went out, on Christmas Day, with four people- other than myself- with an intent to give. We went under the Mississippi River Bridge with snacks, hats, gloves, and socks. We ran out very quickly, literally within minutes. I was shocked to see young children in the line, looking to receive items. MY heart broke. I cried. I knew from that moment on, that I was purposed to do this work. No longer could I sit idly by while people in my community went without. I had to find a way to help.

From that moment on, I have curated a way to consistently host giveaways for the people of New Orleans. Whether we receive many donations, or none at all, we find a way to give - in efforts to help those in need.

You Can Help

Any way that you give to THTG is a blessing. Whether you donate your time or money, we kindly appreciate all that you give. We make every penny stretch to buy clothing, toiletry items and other needed essentials. If you know of a highly saturated area, outside of the city of New Orleans, place an inquiry or send an email. We love expanding and giving in more places than just one.

In Closing

There is always a reason to give. If you give a smile, a hug, a listening ear... whatever you have to give, give it. "Every man according as he purposed in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver" (2 Corinthians 9:7-9).

"It is more blessed to give than to receive" (Acts 20:35). God Bless!
